I heart Aztec

There is no hiding that I absolutely love ethnical influences in interiors. At White Punch our collection is diverse, aiming to mix both Nordic and Exotic elements. Now that Autumn is drawing in, I'm on the lookout to add some texture to our home. To achieve this, I often bring more bold pattern into interiors, to add warmth and interest. I am absolutely head over heels in love with Aztec. The  traditional Latin American designs, full of compelling geometric patterns, will add intrigue and a wow factor to your home. You can decide how big or small you want the wow to be. Go for lots of strong and vibrant colours for a bold approach, or use softer shades of white, greys and black for a more subtle look. Either how it will for sure make a statement and add interest to your interiors.

Aztec rugs in authentic warm kilim colours, hang one on the wall as a beautiful piece of artwork.

This would look so great as a bedspread, don't you think?

Love the idea of layering and covering the sofa with some funky Aztec print. Crazy statement for your home and easy to change it back. The image above is borrowed from Design Sponge who featured interior stylist, art director and prop wardrobe stylist Paige Morse’s home. About the striking sofa she says: “This is one of the most talked about pieces in my home when people visit. It is a small settee made from vintage kilim rugs. The details are insane. Can you see all those little tassels at the bottom? The throw was brought back from my travels in Mexico and the pillows are made from vintage wedding cloths from India. I love every little detail about this corner of the room.”
I am totally weak at the knees at the global living vibe and story behind this piece.

This feature wall would really add some interest to any home. I can absolutely see this working well in a typical minimal Scandinavian looking home. The black and white pattern is just so versatile.

If you just want to add some subtle changes to your home, then soft furnishing is your friend. An Aztec throw or some cushions, like these lovely coral Tine K cushions will take you on the way to the global living look and also add the all important texture and interest to your cosy autumn-winter home. These large Aztec cushions above are now on sale at the moment and are £35 for the square one and £30 for the rectangular and you can find them in the shop.

Would you like to add some Aztec to your home?

In the meantime, take care.

Pocket String Sale!

Hi there, long time no see.... Blog has been a bit of a stand still over the past few months, but I am ready to change that. Feeling in the groove to start blogging again.

It is mid October and we at White Punch have an offer for you:) From yesterday we have 20% off on the Swedish design classic String Pockets. Now you can get one of these wonderfully versatile shelving units for a snippet at £86 :) We put a white one up in my youngest daughter bedroom and thinking of putting up the Raw String Pocket somewhere downstairs as I just love the raw material used in that style. They are just so practical and stylish and can hold all your favourite things. Earlier I showed some pretty cool String Pocket pictures that were styled by one of my favorite stylist Lotta Agaton. Styling + Photo for White Punch

This weekend I attended a Styling and Photography Workshop with Jemma Watts, an incredibly talented lifestyle photographer. It was hosted by Ladies in Blogging, a blogging group I was introduced to last week by the wonderful Vee who is behind the blog Chalk the Blog. This was a huge step in the right direction for me as I have been eager to start to take my own product shots for White Punch. When I started out creating the White Punch webshop, I had so many expectation and plans. It was all there in my head, how the products would feature in my shop, but I did not appreciate how many hats I had to put on and roles I had to fill, so the creative side of the business did not develop the way that I had planned and wished for. Now that the shop is up and running fine I now have more time exploring the wonderful world of photography and styling. Jemma thought us so many amazing tricks and tips that would have taken me months to learn on my own. I am a complete novice; I could not even work out my tripod...! I have had my entry level DSRL camera for about two years, but have not really gone near it as I've had no clue on how to work it or where to start. Now I cannot wait to explore it more, thanks to all the things I learned at this workshop. I look forward to bringing my products out and experimenting with different settings on the camera and styling ideas. So...drum roll please... this is my first try:

My very own shot of something I styled and created. A photographer’s trained eye will see lots of mistakes I have made, but I am quite happy, as for me it is a step in the right direction. Both for the shop and this blog. I’m getting closer to the vision I have up there in my head :)
Oh and the cute mango breadboard I used is from here .
Till next time, take care.

November Picks from White Punch

Here at White Punch we love the autumn feel this November and darker nights after we turned the clocks back. And personally I am really looking forward to Christmas! I have been holding back for a while now and feel that this is the right time to start to introduce you to some of White Punches Christmas. In my November Picks there is the cutest little Mugtails which are our best seller at the moment. Just like forest animals straight from fairytale books. Their bushy tails are on mat finished mugs. These mugtails bring a mixture of a warm atmosphere, cute character and an elegant design. The type of size of the animal is shown by the size of the mug so they are all different. They can be used to drink from, hold candles in (which gives out a warm orange glow or even an accessory holder. They come in 4 designs; Rabbit, Fawn, Cat and Squirrel and they are the perfect Christmas gifts I think. Talking of lights we have also included the ultimate glam industrial chic wall lamp. I fell in love with this lamp the first time I saw it for its golden finish and its simple and bare design. Another light is our Neon STAR Light, which really looks great all year around, but would probably look extra special on the wall during this time of year. The neon art and typography are the inspiration for this cool wall light from the ever so clever Italian design house Seletti. November and December are the months you would probably do a bit more entertaining than usual. We have a large selection of different types of bread boards that are ideal for serving all the festive treats, -why don’t you take a look?

Till next time, take care!

And just like that, September is here! My picks for September from White Punch have a real autumn feel. I love change in seasons, any seasons, but autumn, I think, is my favourite. After the best summer in a decade, I am now quite ready for darker nights, leaves falling, cooler air, roaring fires, hearty stews and lots and lots of candles. Here are some autumn inspiration pictures and my picks from the shop.

String® Pocket shelves

I absolutely love the classic String® shelves and when I decided on products for White Punch, String® Pockets was one of the first products that I wanted to sell. We have two sets of String® systems in our house, so I am a big fan.  Apart from being the ultimate storage solution, String Pockets are also an affordable designer classic, designed by Swedish Nils Strinning back in 1949.

This Pocket version is perfect storage for today’s living. String®Pocket composition is made up of three shelves and two side panels which are easy to assemble and would look great in any room.
The shelves would equally look great on its own, grouped together in a row or one on top of another.

Sneak Peak

I am in love......

I am sitting here finalizing our order to the fabulous Danish brand House Doctor. Decisions decisions.....I am so spoilt for choice! I have been a big fan for a long time, marvelling over their unique products in shops back home in Norway, where they have been established since their beginning, some 12 years ago. Their style is provocative, personal and informal. I think their products have a strong industrial vibe, but with a kind of soft touch. They are experts in being a step ahead of trends and their mantra is to mix elements, rather than matching them, just what White PUNCH is trying to create. Here are some more inspirational pictures from their Spring/Summer catalogue. Enjoy!

Coral

For spring this year there is one colour that I have absolutely fallen head over heels in love with and that is the divine colour of Coral! From its dusty pink to its more burned orange shade, it makes this colour so versatile and would really add a little pizzazz to my usual pallet of white, grey and black. It has a certain energy, which is very welcome after a cold and grey UK winter and I can absolutely see it entering both my wardrobe and my home this spring. The Danish designer Tine K, which my shop will stock, has incorporated coral to perfection into their Spring Summer Collection as you can see from some of the pictures below.

Hope this has given you some inspiration on trying out the fab colour of Coral!
